Afghanistan bitter winter: Severe cold kills more than 150 people

Al Jazeera, 26 Jan 2023
A wave of freezing temperatures is sweeping across much of Afghanistan.
In roughly two weeks, more than 150 people have died.
Most were those living in remote rural villages cut off by heavy snowfalls.
It has thought to be the coldest winter Afghanistan has experienced in a decade - with temperatures as low as minus 34 degrees Celsius.
Aid efforts could be hampered by a ruling by the Taliban banning women from working in NGOs, which has halted operations in recent weeks.

Al Jazeera’s Katia Lopez-Hodayan reports.
