Si las bancadas logran consenso para someter la discusión, el Órgano Legislativo apostaría a una ley, a través de un acuerdo con los bancos, que abarque hasta el 31 de diciembre de 2021.
La Asociación Bancaria de Panamá rechazó recientemente las intenciones de la Asamblea Nacional, y advirtió que de aprobarse la norma, traería efectos negativos.
Los representantes de los consumidores respaldan a los diputados en el proyecto que podría ser discutido en el próximo período legislativo.
En octubre de 2020, la Superintendencia de Bancos anunció un acuerdo que extendió la moratoria hasta el 30 de junio de 2021.
