Ontario officials provide update on COVID-19 testing strategy | LIVE

CA, 19 Nov 2021
Ontario Health Minister Christine Elliott will be joined by Education Minister Stephen Lecce and chief medical officer of health Dr. Kieran Moore on Thursday to make an announcement regarding Ontario's enhanced COVID-19 testing strategy.

Elliott defended a plan Wednesday to allow people with COVID-19 symptoms to get tested for the virus in pharmacies, after some experts raised safety concerns.

The health minister told the legislature that pharmacies will take standard infection prevention and control measures, including mask-wearing, physical distancing and having a dedicated space to perform the tests.

The federal government is also expected to announce later this week it is dropping the negative PCR test requirement for Canadians returning from the U.S. for any trip less than 72 hours.
