Russia blows up its own satellite in missile test, endangering ISS astronauts

Russia is drawing international condemnation after it test-fired a missile to destroy one of its own older satellites.
The defunct satellite's destruction dispersed an estimated 1,500 pieces of shrapnel into earth's orbit, threatening some of the 3,400 active satellites that surround the planet.
But as Eric Sorensen explains, it also resulted in dangerous chain reaction that threatened the International Space Station and ignited questions about what the Kremlin is really up to.
