Stranded in the freezing darkness of a Polish forest
BBC, 16 Nov 2021
Some of the hundreds of people gathered on the Belarusian side of the border with Poland successfully make it across - but then have to endure freezing temperatures and risk of hypothermia while sleeping in the forest.
Women - including one who was pregnant and severely hypothermic - and young children have been intercepted by border guards and taken into custody or to hospital.
Journalists and aid agencies are banned from getting too close to the border, but some of those who live inside the exclusion zones are doing what they can to help.
