In full: Downing Street announces Covid vaccine booster jabs rolled out to over-40s
Telegraph, 15 Nov 2021
Booster jabs are to be rolled out for those in their 40s, after research found a third dose could cut infection rates by 80 per cent.
The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation said everyone in their 40s would be asked to come forward six months after their second jab.
The rollout of second doses to those in their 40s began in June, meaning many of those in the cohort will become eligible before Christmas.
Until now, boosters have only been offered to those in priority groups, including all over-50s. So far 12.6 million have had booster jabs, but around 32 million will be eligible by the end of this year.
