In tonight's top story: Despite escaping the Taliban's takeover in their home country, some Afghan interpreters who helped the Canadian military are stuck in limbo as they wait for word on getting asylum status in Canada. Crystal Goomansingh spoke to Jawed Ahmad Haqmal, a former interpreter for the Canadian Forces, who is stuck in Ukraine and fears time is running out for his family.

Meanwhile, a federal court has now refused to hear the case of Maj.-Gen. Dany Fortin, who is fighting to get his job back as head of logistics for Canada's COVID-19 vaccine roll-out. He was booted from his post over a sexual misconduct allegation dating back decades. Mike Le Couteur explains how Fortin lost the first round of the legal battle, and where it goes from here.

Despite signs COVID-19 cases may be peaking in Alberta, hospitals and health workers are still being pushed to their limits by the Delta variant-driven fourth wave. The concern now is that Thanksgiving gatherings and loose restrictions may still fuel a bigger surge amid low vaccinations in parts of the province. Heather Yourex-West looks at how one Alberta family is grieving and how vaccine misinformation was a factor.

In the United Kingdom, a new scathing report released by British lawmakers is slamming Prime Minister Boris Johnson's government, citing dozens of failures it's made in its early response to the COVID-19 pandemic. As Redmond Shannon reports, the findings suggest a slew of public health missteps may have cost thousands of lives.

And toy industry giant LEGO is promising to lay out the building blocks to break dated gender norms. The company is vowing to be more gender-inclusive with its products, after finding most of its products promote gender stereotypes, especially when it comes to targeting girls. Mike Drolet explains.
