Storm Arwen leaves 2 dead in the UK, triggers power cuts and damages

CA, 28 Nov 2021
At least two people died and tens of thousands were left without power as Storm Arwen brought strong winds across many parts of the United Kingdom, with gusts of up to 100 miles per hour.

Gusts of 98 mph hit Brizlee Wood in Northumberland, northeastern England, according to the Met Office, which said yellow warnings remained in place on Saturday across much of the country.

More than 100,000 customers were without power, Northern Powergrid said on Saturday morning, which delivers electricity to properties in the North East of England and Yorkshire.

Engineers were also working to restore supplies in Scotland and southern England.
