The National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI) is now strongly recommending Canadian adults get a third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, as Ottawa strikes a deal to buy a new weapon to fight the virus. The federal government has secured orders to buy COVID-19 antiviral medication from pharmaceutical companies Merck and Pfizer. Abigail Bimman reports on the deal, the new national recommendations on who should get a third vaccine dose, and the lingering questions about travel measures.

A new study from the United Kingdom is adding to the evidence that mixing and matching COVID-19 vaccines provides solid protection from the virus. Could the method work against the new Omicron variant? Eric Sorensen looks at the findings.

New evidence suggests the Omicron variant may be more transmissible than the Delta variant, as Norway grapples with a sudden surge of COVID-19 cases.
