Ontario Deputy Premier and Health Minister Christine Elliott is expected to hold a press conference Tuesday to provide an update on the government's response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

She will be joined by Solicitor General Sylvia Jones and General Rick Hillier, Chair of the COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution Task Force.

Premier Doug Ford said Monday he had spoken with Pfizer, one of the drug makers that have entered into an agreement with Canada for vaccine delivery, but stressed that a delivery date must come from Ottawa.

Ontario reported 1,707 new cases of coronavirus on Tuesday, bringing the provincial total to 118,199.
