'Many families and businesses are experiencing hardship,' says Rishi Sunak as economy shrinks 9.9pc

Britain is set to avoid a double-dip recession despite shrinking by almost a tenth last year in the worst annual plunge in GDP in three centuries, official figures have revealed.
"Today's figures show that last year our economy experienced a significant shock, and whilst there were some signs of resilience over winter, you know what's clear is right now many families and businesses are experiencing hardship," said Chancellor Rishi Sunak.
