US ready to distribute up to 4 million doses of J&J vaccine next week if approved, WH says | FULL

The White House COVID-19 Response Team held a briefing to discuss the government's response to COVID-19 after FDA endorsed the Johnson & Johnson vaccine for emergency use on Wednesday, a critical step in bringing the third vaccine to the U.S.

COVID-19 Response Coordinator Jeff Zients said on Wednesday that if the Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) is granted by FDA, the government is ready to distribute three to four million doses of the single-shot vaccine across the country next week.

Infectious disease specialist Dr. Anthony Fauci introduced a new initiative to study post-acute symptoms of COVID-19, after confirming symptoms of the disease can last for months, ranging from mild to incapacitating.

Coronavirus deaths and cases per day in the U.S. dropped markedly over the past couple of weeks but are still running at alarmingly high levels, and the effort to snuff out COVID-19 is becoming an ever more urgent race between the vaccine and the mutating virus.
