Humanitarian crisis in northern Mozambique lingers

DW, 03 Mar 2021
Jihadists - locally known as Al-Shabaab - pledged their allegiance to the so-called Islamic State in 2019. This islamist insurgency is furiously raging in Mozambique. It began in 2017 when armed militants staged their first attack in the northern Cabo Delgado province.
Their violence has seen more than half a million people flee their homes. In the beginning of 2021, UN officials warned the humanitarian crisis would worsen without international help. DW's Adrian Kriesch visited a refugee camp in Metuge where people told him just how their lives have been upended.
