Trudeau, Canadian ministers provide COVID-19 update | LIVE

CA, 04 Mar 2021
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, alongside Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Chrystia Freeland and Innovation, and Science and Industry Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne, are expected to provide an update on the country's ongoing COVID-19 effort on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, public health officials announced nearly one million doses of coronavirus vaccines were heading to Canada this week, with another round of roughly 900,000 doses expected to arrive next week.

The news came as officials confirmed doses of the newly approved AstraZeneca vaccine were en route to Canada and on track to be delivered Wednesday.

Procurement Minister Anita Anand said the country was also on track for the government’s promise that everyone who wants a vaccine can get one by “the end of the summer." She stated that Canada will receive 945,000 doses of vaccines this week: a weekly shipment of 444,000 doses from Pfizer and 500,000 doses of the just-approved AstraZeneca/CoviShield vaccine.
