Northern China is currently shrouded by some of the worst sandstorms to hit the region this year, with visibility dropping to as low as 10 metres in the worst-hit areas. The Chinese capital Beijing reported its third-highest air quality alert level as a thick cloud of sand and dust blew across the city.
