Live: Rice seeds brought back by Chang'e-5 spacecraft grow on Earth – Ep. 30

CGTN, 28 Mar 2021
The Chang'e-5 lunar probe started its 23-day space journey on November 24, carrying various plant seeds, including 40 grams of rice seeds. These seeds traveled through the Van Allen belts and encountered violent sunspot activity during the trip. It was the first time that Chinese researchers conducted mutation breeding experiments in deep space. The seeds came back to Earth aboard the spacecraft and were planted in labs and soil at South China Agricultural University in Guangzhou, south China's Guangdong Province, where a new field is being prepared for future planting as well. Check out this livestream to see the germinated seeds sprout.
