UK boy nears year of sleeping in tent, fundraising for hospice

CA, 25 Mar 2021
An 11-year-old boy in the U.K. is giving everyone a lesson on generosity and selflessness. Max Woosey has been raising money for a hospice by sleeping in a tent for nearly a year.

“He started a couple of days after the beginning of lockdown because we actually said no when he asked the first few nights. So he’s been out there since towards the end of March,” said mom Rachael Woosey.

The idea was a way to pay tribute to his neighbour and friend Rick Abbott, who passed away at the age of 74.

“He was super fit, he loved the outdoors,” said Max Woosey, “like going to the gym or going on water sports, like kayaking or paddleboarding. Or camping.”

Now, as Crystal Goomansingh reports, it has grown into something bigger than he expected.
