Testimony continued in the murder trial of Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer charged with murder and manslaughter in the death of George Floyd.
On Tuesday, Donald Williams II, a bystander who repeatedly yelled for Chauvin to remove his knee from Floyd’s neck, took the stand and said he “called the police on the police” after witnessing the fatal arrest. When prosecutor Matthew Frank played the 911 call in court, Williams was heard saying “He pretty much just killed this guy that wasn’t resisting arrest.”
Darnella Frazier, the teen who filmed the viral footage of Floyd’s death, also took the stand and described seeing Floyd “suffering” in his final moments. The 18-year-old’s voice cracked with emotion as she said that she’s stayed up some nights apologizing to Floyd “for not doing more, and not physically interacting, not saving his life."
