CA, 20 Mar 2021
U.S. President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris spoke Friday after meeting with leaders of the Asian-American community in Atlanta, Georgia following the shootings at three different Atlanta massage parlours on Tuesday evening.
In total, six of the people killed as a result of the shootings were Asian and two were white. All but one were women.
Cherokee County authorities said 21-year-old Robert Aaron Long was charged Wednesday with four counts of murder and one count of assault in Woodstock, where one of the massage parlour shootings took place.
Harris said Friday "we will always speak out against violence, hate crimes and discrimination wherever and whenever it occurs."
Biden added "our silence is our complicity. We have to speak out, we have to act" to combat racism and Xenophobia.
