'Failed state': Why Myanmar stands on the brink of collapse - and what the UK must do to help

More than 700 people have been killed in Myanmar by the regime since the military coup on February 1, and there's no sign the violence will stop.

The International Crisis Group has warned the UN Security Council that the country is on the brink of collapse and becoming a failed state, says The Telegraph’s Asia correspondent Nicola Smith.

As ASEAN leaders prepare to hold talks on the mounting Myanmar crisis in a summit this weekend, the spotlight is now on the international community for their response to the crisis.
