Mahsa Amini: Iranian government imposes Internet blackout to curb dissent

In Iran, scenes of anger are playing out across the country as people take to the streets amid chants and protests, in a dramatic show of defiance against the regime. This follows the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, who died last week in the custody of Iran’s so-called ”morality police” — a notorious unit that enforces compulsory headscarf laws.

But now, the Iranian government has imposed an Internet blackout, following the protests, to curb dissent.
