Africa Weekly: Africa Cup of Nations poses challenges for host Cameroon

In Africa this week, the Africa Cup of Nations, kicking off on January 9 in Cameroon after a delay over Covid concerns, is also posing major security, political and organisational challenges for the host nation; in conflict-wracked northwestern Central African Republic, a new and invisible threat of being killed or maimed by explosive devices laid by rebels hangs over humanitarian aid workers and the area's residents; and in South Africa, small reserve parks carefully manage 700 lions to avoid overpopulation and in-breeding.
