China: Millions locked down in Xi'an as residents complain of food shortages | Covid-19

Residents of the Chinese city of Xi'an are straining under a strict coronavirus lockdown, with some complaining of difficulties finding food despite assurances from authorities that they are able to provide necessities for the 13 million people largely confined to their homes.

People have been taking to social media platform Weibo to barter for food after authorities admitted that staff absences and delivery logistics have caused issues in supplying locals with food packages.

The city has been in a lockdown since December 23.
