Aerial video shows drivers stranded on I-95 in Virginia after snowstorm

CA, 05 Jan 2022
Hundreds of drivers in Virginia were stranded overnight in freezing temperatures along a roughly 89 km stretch of I-95 as authorities worked to reopen an icy stretch of the major interstate following snowstorm that blanketed the U.S. region the day before.

The standstill began on Monday as more than 30 cm of snow fell in parts of the U.S. Southeast and mid-Atlantic regions, causing multiple crashes and spin-outs.

Aerial footage showed the highway paralysis as some drivers were trapped for more than 15 hours in freezing weather.

The traffic has since begun moving in the early morning hours of Jan 4.
