South Korea’s BTS praise resilience of “welcome generation” at UN

CA, 21 Sep 2021
The South Korean pop sensation BTS shared their thoughts on how young people have fared during the COVID-19 pandemic during an appearance at the United Nations (UN) on Monday, and how younger generations are tackling big issues like the climate crisis.

The group said they’ve heard Generation Z sometimes referred to as the “lost generation,” but said they believe this generation should be referred to as the “welcome generation” because of their resilience.

“I think it’s a stretch to say they’re lost just because the paths they tread can’t be seen by grown up eyes,” said BTS group leader Kim Nam-Joon, better known as RM.

The K-pop group also filmed a music video to their song “Permission Dance” at the UN headquarters.
