Latvia's President Egils Levits has welcomed Germany's decision to send Leopard 2 main battle tanks to Ukraine. Speaking to DW, he said: "We are of the opinion that we should help support Ukraine. Because it is the only way we can defend Europe. " The Latvian president went on and dismissed fears that Europe could be drawn further into the war, by sending more military aid to Kyiv. "Not NATO, not Europe, not Germany, not Latvia is the source of the war, but Russia."
