Concern mounts for Canada's left-behind helpers as Afghanistan conflict worsens
CA, 05 Aug 2021
The Taliban continues to gain ground in fighting with Afghanistan's government forces, as the last U.S. troops prepare to leave the country at the end of August after a 20-year mission.
Two bomb attacks have shaken the capital of Kabul in the past day, which led to eight civilian deaths in an ensuing gun battle.
As similar stories happen across the country, concerns continue to grow in Canada over the safety of Afghans who helped Canadian forces during the war there, as well as their family members.
As Redmond Shannon reports, the crisis is adding urgency to those who have been left behind.
