2021 Nobel Prize for medicine foes to US duo for work on touch and temperature

Scientists David Julius and Ardem Patapoutian have jointly won the Nobel Prize for Medicine for their discoveries of receptors for temperature and touch.
The duo’s research has broken ground in the emerging field of mechanobiology, which looks at how pressure receptors work inside the body. The announcement kicks off the yearly awards ceremony, which rewards outstanding work that has contributed to the advancement of humanity.
