Protesters marched in the Japanese capital on May 17, 2021, demanding the cancellation of the Tokyo Olympics as the country grapples with a fourth wave of Covid-19 infections. According to the latest survey conducted by the Asahi newspaper, more than 43 per cent of respondents want the Summer Games cancelled despite the insistence of Japanese officials and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) that the Games will take place.
