UK warns new coronavirus variant may delay reopening

As England, parts of Scotland and Wales lift their lockdowns, the United Kingdom's Prime Minister Boris Johnson has urged caution as scientists warn that the B.1.617.2 variant, first identified in India, could lead to another rise in coronavirus cases.
This strain has now become prevalent in parts of the UK.
In the northwest of England, cases have more than doubled in a week because of the variant's spread.
