Rep. Liz Cheney, who was the third-ranking member in the Republican Party, reacted on Wednesday after members voted to remove her from her position as Republican Conference Chair, saying she would work to ensure that former U.S. President Donald Trump “never again gets anywhere near the Oval Office.”

Cheney said she did not feel betrayed by party members who voted to remove her, but said she believes the party “is in a place we’ve got to bring it back from.”

“We cannot be dragged backward by the very dangerous lies of a former president,” she said.

The Wyoming congresswoman, the daughter of former vice president Dick Cheney, was one of ten House Republicans who voted to impeach Trump on a charge of inciting insurrection.
