Prosecutor Jerry Blackwell has had the final word in Derek Chauvin's murder trial in the hope to convince the jury that Chauvin caused George Floyd's death. Blackwell said that the questions about the use of force and cause of death were ‘so simple that a child can understand it.’ ‘In fact, a child did understand it, when the nine year old girl said, 'get off of him',’ Blackwell told the jury. The defense argued not only that Chauvin acted reasonably but that the 46-year-old Floyd died of heart disease and illegal drug use. Blackwell butted that argument, saying: ‘You were told … that Mr Floyd died because his heart was too big … the truth of the matter is that the reason George Floyd is dead is because Mr Chauvin’s heart was too small’
