Taskforce sent to try and stop wild elephant herd entering Chinese city
Telegraph, 04 Jun 2021
A wandering herd of 15 elephants have been journeying in China's Yunnan Province and local authorities are trying to keep them away from populated areas.
The elephants entered a rural suburb of the city of Kunming after travelling 300 miles from their nature reserve home.
They were originally a herd of 17 but 2 of the mammals turned around and headed back towards the south.
Local authorities have deployed a task force of more than 630 people, 106 vehicles and 14 drones to monitor the elephants.
