Masked gunmen killed at least 10 people working for the Halo Trust, a demining organisation in northern Afghanistan. The UK charity said 110 workers were in the demining camp at the time of the attack on the night of June 8, 2021. Interior Ministry spokesman Tareq Arian blamed Taliban insurgents, but Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid denied the group was involved. The Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for the attack in the Baghlan Markazi district of northern Baghlan province that also injured 16 people.
