Montreal man survives weeks of coma and hospitalization from COVID-19
CA, 12 Apr 2021
Sixty-five-year-old Peter Scoufaras, of Montreal, is now able to enjoy sitting with his family at a distance after spending weeks in intensive care of COVID-19.
The healthy man contracted the virus last Christmas and his situation deteriorated rapidly. He had to be placed in a coma and on a ventilator while he stayed in hospital for nearly three months.
Doctors were never able to explain why the virus attacked him so savagely. Amanda Jelowicki spoke to Scoufaras, whose story of survival serves as a warning of how unpredictable COVID-19 can be.
