Yavuz Baydar: 'the Central Bank was the final institution Erdogan had his eyes on'

The Turkish lira has plunged following President Erdogan's controversial decision to oust former central bank governor Naci Agbal. He had just announced his decision to raise interest rates... a policy that ran counter to the views of Erdogan who thinks that the lower the rate is, the lower the inflation will be. Finance doctor and former AKP deputy Sahap Kavcioglu has been appointed to replace Agbal. Editor-in-chief of Ahval Yavuz Baydar explains how Erdogan's decision to tackle the Central Bank wasn't that surprising.
