Biden delivers remarks on COVID-19 pandemic response | LIVE

CA, 28 Apr 2021
U.S. President Joe Biden is expected to deliver remarks on his administration's COVID-19 pandemic response Tuesday.

Biden's major promise was 100 million shots in Americans' arms by his first 100 days in office, though he later revised this to 200 million after the initial goal was passed weeks ago. Some 290 million shots have been distributed, more than 230 million administered, and about 96 million Americans are fully vaccinated, 29% of the population.

An administration's official confirmed Monday the U.S. will share 60 million doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine with the world in the coming months. Indian officials say they expect to get the biggest chunk of those as the country battles a deadly coronavirus wave.

On Monday, the White House said 10 million doses could be cleared for export "in coming weeks" and the rest by June. It has not revealed potential beneficiaries, but the sources said India could gain the most.

Biden's remarks also come the same day the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are expected to provide new guidance on mask-wearing outdoors.
