Putin warns foreign powers against crossing Russia’s ‘red lines’
Al Jazeera, 22 Apr 2021
As a rift between Russia and the West widens, President Vladimir Putin has used his annual state-of-the-nation speech to warn that Moscow is prepared to respond harshly to any foreign provocations.
Russian police have rounded up more than 14,000 people demonstrating in support of Alexey Navalny.
The Kremlin critic has been on hunger strike, and protesters want Navalny's doctors to treat him.
But despite the main rallies, Putin made no mention of Navalny during his state of the nation address.
Al Jazeera’s Bernard Smith reports from Moscow, Russia.
