The European Union is expected to discuss Albania's membership next week, but it could be many years before the country formally joins the bloc.
Young Albanians have been abandoning their homeland for better economic opportunities in the EU for years.
And, as Al Jazeera's John Psaropoulos reports from the capital Tirana, that exodus is affecting one of Europe's poorest economies.
