In Luhansk, eastern Ukraine, Russian colours and flags may be everywhere, and much of the ethnic Russian population in this war-torn area supports a referendum to join Russia.

But in Zaphorizhzhia, Ukraine, there’s strong Ukrainian defiance toward Russia as the war goes on.
