Canada announces multi-faceted approach to combat online hate speech, crime | FULL

Canadian federal ministers David Lametti, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada and Steven Guilbeault, Minister of Canadian Heritage, will be making an announcement Wednesday evening. They will be joined by Bill Blair, Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness and Maryam Monsef, Minister for Women and Gender Equality and Rural Economic Development.

It's expected that they will unveil measures to crack down on online extremism.

“Our government is continuing to do what is necessary, obviously working with the social media platforms, to combat online hate and we’ll have more to say on specific measures in the coming weeks,” Intergovernmental Affairs Minister Dominic LeBlanc told reporters on June 9.
