US Navy sets off explosives to test new aircraft carrier

The US Navy has started a series of tests on the USS Gerald R. Ford, one of the newest and most advanced aircraft carriers. The first of the tests took place on June 18, 2021, when the navy detonated almost 20 tonnes of explosives next to the ship to determine readiness for war. The explosion registered as a 3.9 magnitude earthquake off the coast of Florida.
