US President Joe Biden delivers inaugural address | FULL

CA, 21 Jan 2021
Joe Biden delivered his inaugural address shortly after being sworn in as the 46th president of the US. It was the new president’s first chance to lay out an official agenda to Americans watching from home, delivering a message of hope and resolve, saying that "politics doesn't have to be a raging fire destroying everything in its path."

He vowed to end the “uncivil war” in a deeply divided country reeling from a battered economy and grappling with a historic pandemic.

“Through a crucible for the ages, America has been tested anew, and America has risen to the challenge,” Biden said in his inaugural address.

“Today we celebrate the triumph not of a candidate but of a cause: the cause of democracy…At this hour, my friends, democracy has prevailed.”

He spoke to a relatively empty crowd beneath a platform at the Capitol due to the pandemic restrictions. Many of the roughly 1,000 guests in attendance are members of Congress and their guests, and former presidents, vice-presidents, and first ladies.
