CA, 30 Sep 2020
During a COVID-19 press conference on Wednesday, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that the nation saw the highest number of reported coronavirus cases since the pandemic began on Tuesday.
The prime minister announced 7,108 new cases of COVID-19 reported on Wednesday amid a second wave. There has also been a "tragic" increase in the number of daily deaths with 71 on Tuesday and 71 on Wednesday.
"These figures show why our plan is so essential," Johnson said. "We have to stick to it together, and we should stick to it with confidence."
By December, United Kingdom manufacturers are expected to meet 70 per cent of the demand for personal protective equipment (PPE), compared with just one per cent before the pandemic.
Plus, he reiterated the importance of wearing a face mask, hand washing and social distancing.
