Coronavirus: Canadian Chamber of Commerce urges government to help major restaurant chains

The Canadian Chamber of Commerce is urging Ottawa to change some of the rules around the Canada Emergency Rent Subsidy (CERS) program. Global News obtained a letter from the Chamber of Commerce to Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland which called for all businesses to be treated equally such as major restaurant chains. Business owners can claim up to 65 per cent of 300,000 in expenses, but for owners with multiple businesses they have to split that across all their stores. As Abigail Bimman explains, the group says many businesses are on the brink of bankruptcy.
